Day #3 Biking Across America Whidbey Island to Seattle, Washington – 56 miles

It was a cold & overcast morning on Whidbey Island this morning as I prepared to ride out. Mary-Beth was headed to Seattle airport to pick up my friend Brandon Young who will be riding with me this week, while I headed 28 miles south to the Clinton Ferry Terminal that would take me back to Seattle. It was a quiet Sunday morning, not too many cars on the road and the countryside was incredible. I really enjoyed the ride!

When I made the ferry crossing I started the steep climb up from the coastline into Seattle. Yikes, the first climb was a 10% grade! Felt good overall today and really enjoyed touring Seattle.

today was a special day because we celebrated Mary-Beth’s 62nd birthday (although her birthday is actually tomorrow). We went out for a nice dinner at a Noodle House in Seattle and of course had to get some ice cream to finish off the night. Mary-Beth had to tell us 62 stories about herself at dinner, she loved that, she said it was the best gift.

Tomorrow we head South East and start the trek over he mountains west of Seattle. Should be a fun ride. Hope you have a great week!
