We had heard that the temperatures today were going to be North of 100 degrees. To try and beat the heat we rode out around 6:30 am and got to watch the sun rise on the horizon. I really enjoy riding in the cool of the morning!

As we pedaled out of Sprague it seemed more like a set for the next Disney Cars movie. The little town seemed almost like a ghost town as we rode through in the quiet of the morning. Our 1st stop was 29 miles later in Cheney, WA where we would meet Mary-Beth to fill up our camel backs & water bottles.
Those first 29 miles were over pretty rough gravel trails. Even with a “gravel bike” it’s pretty difficult to navigate the thick layer of rock. We were happy when we left Cheney to find that the bike path all the way to Spokane was beautifully paved.
When we rolled into Idaho, it truly felt like an accomplishment to have completed my first full state and break the 500 mile mark. It was a great first week. We will be taking the weekend off here in Coeur d’ Alene, enjoying some R & R.
I want to thank my friend Brandon for a fantastic time riding together. Thanks for the memories Brandon!
