It was a slow start this morning, I did not get on the road until 8:30 am. We were out last night for dinner with some old family friends of my parents. They live near Missoula and reached out and invited us to dinner. It was really great seeing them and getting caught up on life. We decided to prep in the morning, it was fine to relax a bit because my mileage was a little shorter today.

I will say that Montana is a beast of a state to bike through! There are lots of challenges; steep mountains, sparsely populated areas, few roads and poorly marked hiking and biking trails all make it a significant challenge.

With that said, it is a spectacularly beautiful place, serene and untouched in many ways. What a gift to be able to see it on two wheels!

I got in a little trouble today, because I ended up having to do a 15 mile ride on the I-90 freeway. Mary-Beth did not want me to ride the freeway, but ultimately it came down to being the only alternative. It was exciting to say the least. Semi trucks on one side and freight trains on the other. My son called me on my meta glasses which have been great! Although I had to tell him to speak up because the traffic and the trains were having their own conversation!
