As of today I have ridden a total of 867 miles since we left La Push Beach in Washington. It’s hard to believe I have ridden that many miles! We will be in Three Forks tomorrow and will spend our day off in Bozeman. We hope to cross the continental divide into Wyoming right after Labor Day if all goes well.

Today the terrain was much more ranch land, lots of cows! As I rode through the hills I had 2 more opportunities to run with the cows, it’s now becoming a normal event on the trail! Actually it’s now my favorite sport!

All in all today was a tough riding day. In the first half of the day I was riding rutty, rocky dirt roads with lots of long steep climbs. By the time I met Mary-Beth in Deer Lodge, I was already pretty tired. The ride from Deer Lodge to Butte, was long, but what made it painful was the 30 miles of 25 mph headwind. I struggled to keep my speed above 8 mph.

So as you can imagine when I rolled into camp and was greeted by my lovely wife, I was beat tired. With a good nights rest we are back at it tomorrow. Thanks for joining us on the journey!
