The day started out cold & windy and soon rain was added to the mix! I was reminded of how important it is to have the right gear, it really makes all the difference. I am glad we picked up some of the cold weather gear in Bozeman. As the saying goes, “There’s no such thing as bad weather…just underdressed adventures!” I put the new clothing items to good use today.

The ride down the Paradise Valley to Yellowstone was truly amazing, even though it was a day with tough riding conditions. By afternoon the rain had cleared as did most of the clouds, but not the wind…ugh! Once I entered Yellowstone Park, I saw this amazing herd of elk along the road. What a site to see!

Mary-Beth met me 1/2 way in Emigrant, Montana at a country store & gas station. She made me a grilled salami & cheese sandwich with a cup of hot chocolate, such a treat! She made it to Gardiner early and was able to walk around, see the sights and get ready for me to ride into town.

Gardiner is an interesting town pretty much in the middle of the national forests. Most of the shops and restaurants and open late for the tourists coming to Yellowstone. Here you get mountains, memories and enough souvenirs that could fill an Rv! We decided to go out for pizza and passed this really cool pub walking along the way.

Tomorrow Montana will be in the books and we will enter Wyoming. I will cycle in the park to Fishing Bridge where we will spend the night. I am switching out to my road bike tomorrow for the hills, no gravel, we will see how that goes. Mary-Beth would love to see Yogi Bear and Boo Boo but I’d prefer not ending up becoming the picnic basket for either of them! Thanks for joining us on the journey!
