Our ride today started off in front of House of our Shepard Church in Powder River, Wyoming. Great place for us to read our scripture and start our day with a prayer. I decided to ride my fast bike today and was so glad I did, I averaged 20+ mph and at times reached 42 mph, it makes an 85 mile day go much faster for sure.

I arrived in Casper a little before 11 am which was making great time. I met Mary-Beth and ate my lunch early in the motorhome before getting back on the road. I was expecting to finish the afternoon in Douglas early and even thought of putting in an extra 10-15 miles, but…I ended up having a flat on my rear tire on Hwy 25 on a beautiful downhill stretch of road.

Highways in Wyoming need a lot of repair cracks, pot holes, and then tons of debris which can be REALLY hazardous for cyclists. It took me about 30 minutes to get the flat changed on the side of the road.

Back on the road, it was not more than 30 minutes later with only 9 miles left to my destination that I had a second flat in the same tire. By the way that’s not all that uncommon, when you have one flat to have a second. I did not have any more tubes, so I called my road side assistance wife and after about a 30 minute nap on the offramp to Exit 150, she arrived and we swapped out bikes for the gravel bike.

Casper was an interesting place to visit, lots of oil & gas stuff and a million semi trucks going everywhere. I rode past this hillside that was just strewn with junk, all spaced out in an interesting way. Not sure what all of it was, but it was interesting.

Tomorrow is my 64th birthday and we are off to Nebraska, another 90 mile ride! Thanks for joining us on the journey!
