Today started out with a stretch of dirt road and a few steep hills, but nothing like yesterday. Most of the day I enjoyed spectacular bike trails with beautiful treed canopy’s and quaint small towns.
Stuart was a great example, a beautiful brick building with a clock tower caught my eye, so I rode down Main Street to take a look and snap a photo. A man came up to me and asked if he could help me find something. I said no, just taking a photo.
His last name was Disney and he was friendly and told me some great history of Stuart. Including that the brick building we were standing in front of use to be a bank and it was robbed by Bonnie & Clyde. Never would have guessed that one!
He also told me about a beautiful domed church just down the street that was burned down by a guy who had some grievances against the denomination. The community came together to raise the money to rebuild the church. What a beauty she is!
As it turned out most of the day was riding on picturesque bike trails, I have to say I have been very impressed with Iowa so far, it’s a beautiful State.
