Today was the first day I was able to ride with Trey and it was a lot of fun to have him along. It was not the easiest day of riding. We had a light rain in the early morning, a ton of hills as well as Pennsylvania’s terrible roads.
Most of the roads are in disrepair, most dangerous for us is the potholes, they can cause flat tire, ruin a tire or even loose control if one is bad enough.
As we made our way toward Pittsburgh, we wound through a lot of the old steel towns, most seemed to be in pretty rough condition. We even had a 3 1/2 mile dirt & rock road section running along the railroad tracks. That was really rough and a slow go.

After our mid day meet up in Pittsburgh with Mary-Beth, the rest of the day was on the Allegany Passage, a beautiful bike trail winding along the Ohio River. The only challenge was there was a 2 mile trail closure due to a landslide, bummer! They posted that there was a shuttle that would take me around the closed portion, it just wasn’t clear on where to catch the shuttle. Well, 1 hour 15 minutes later I found the shuttle and was back on the trail.

Tomorrow we head South again we are about 220 North of DC. God willing we should see Maryland on Wednesday.
Thanks for joining us on the journey!
