Well, today was my 2nd to last day, and boy was it a doozy! I planned on 70 miles, however 90 miles and rain 1/2 the day is what the trail decided and I was soaked to the bone by the end of the ride.
I hae a couple of trail closures today, both of which caused me some trouble. 1st one added 3 miles to my ride, the 2nd one gave me my 2nd flat tire for the day.
Even in the challenges, God seems to smile at me. As I was working on my 2nd flat tire two riders came by and asked if I needed any help, They donated a tire tube to my cause which was a big help. I also had to change my rear tire. Most of all I enjoyed talking with the guys, they are from Philly and had ridden from Pittsburgh on the same path I took.

Mary-Beth and Trey had to rescue me twice today, the first was to bring me a new tire to replace my rear tire with a large hole in it. The second time when I arrived in Harpers Ferry and the bridge was closed to pedestrians and bicyclists to get across the river. There was no good way to ride over, so I was out of options. They met me off the trail and gave me a ride back to the campground.

Overall, with the mileage, the rain, trail problems and flat tires, I would say it was a pretty tough day. Some days you ride the trail, other days the trail rides you, Today was definitely the latter! But, most importantly, I made it and we are heading to DC in the morning! The final countdown will begin!

Thanks for joining us on the journey!
