Biked Across America in 50 Days – Every Dreamer needs a Dream Maker!

I have said before it feels surreal that we have finished the bike ride. It was like eating an elephant for sure. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. And that’s what we did, one day at a time.

When I think about my dream to bike across America, the experience of it was actually everything I hoped it would be and more. More adventure, more challenges to overcome, new problems to solve and most of all more of God! I will unpack all of this more in the weeks to come as I understand it better

A few weeks ago I told Mary-Beth that I am the dreamer and she is my dream maker, and I truly mean that. She is my dream maker, and I am so grateful to her for making this dream a reality.

First let me say that Mary-Beth is a one of a kind person, God broke the mold when he made her. She is smart, bold, courageous, adventuresome, tenacious funny and many, many more things.

She has stood with me for 37 years and that has never been more true than on this big adventure we began last August 14th. Her support allowed me to be on the bike and to finish the miles I needed to finish each day. When there was something or someone who was going to distract, slow or keep me from reaching my goal, she stepped in and would not allow it to happen.

She was my rear guard and kept the path clear for me to be able to do what I needed to do each Day.

No day was that more evident than the day I rode out of the East gate at Yellowstone down to Cody, Wyoming. By the way this was the best day of biking I have ever experienced in my life as I rode my Time race bike down from 8,500 feet into Cody.

Mary-Beth was literally my rear guard all the way to the bottom. This is the one time she actually followed me as I was riding. She got behind me as I rode down at up to 45 mph, she had her flashers on and kept cars from getting near me. It was beautiful and I am so grateful she did that, without me ever asking her.

I realize that my wife is a one of a kind, a rock star, very few women or people at would do what she did and drive an RV across the United States by herself, set up and tear down, shop, cook and do laundry or what ever it took to keep me on the road each day.

All that to say, Mary-Beth Zarraonandia Dunn, I LOVE YOU AND AM SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU AND THE PERSON YOU ARE IN MY LIFE! I LOVE YOU FOREVER, I LOVE YOU FOR ALWAYS, AS LONG AS I AJ LIVNG MY WIFE YOU WILL BE!

And to all of you, thank you for joining us on the journey!
